Frankie Diane Fashionizes

I'm a young adult writer represented by Laura Rennert. I also like getting dressed and wearing clothes. Here are pictures of me wearing them!

So I’m 30,000 words into my current novel and I’m totally using that as my excuse as to why I cannot think of a single thing to say about this outfit. All the words went to that. Not to this. Which is how it should be. So I’ll just give you the details: Dress: Bloomingdales; Scarf: AAHH, I can’t remember; Vest: Old Navy; Belt: Modcloth; Shoes: Aldo; Bracelets: Free People.

You know how they say, “April showers bring May flowers?” Well…here’s another one. “When it rains in May, Frankie’s boots get to stay.” Yeah… Details: Oh look it’s a Target day….except for the boots.

Between my rockin’ 90’s jean vest and the flowy tunic, feather earrings (kind of hard to see) and my boots, I totally belong at a music festival today. Preferably Woodstock (which I totally watched on tv though I was too young to see most of what I saw). I’ll also accept being transported to the original Lilith Fair, or Lollapalooza. I’m not picky. Alas, it is a normal Monday in my world. Albeit with possibly shinier hair—thanks to ending my shower with cold water—its supposed to reduce frizz and wake you up. I say success on both. Now back to my day. Details: Vest: Old Navy, Tunic/Slip dress: Free People; Necklace: Target; Earrings: Claire’s; Boots: Payless.

Remember how on Thursday I was all like, “yay small closets, no selection, makes getting dressed fun!”? Well for Friday’s outfit, it was the total opposite and getting dressed was more like, “WHY don’t I have anything to wear, why do I have NO clothes?” Luckily though, the war I waged with my closet ended happily as I pulled together this outfit, which is now probably my favorite. So maybe the small closet wins again! Details: Dress: Bloomingdales; Scarf: Free People; Jacket: Old Navy; Belt: Thrifted; Shoes: Payless.

Considering many of you have not seen in the actual inside of my closet—and trust me—it’s better that way, you probably don’t know that I’ve recently donated a whole lot of stuff. Partly thanks to this blog, I can really decide what looks good on me, what looks hideous, and what I just never bother to wear. So lately I’ve been working with a shrunken closet. And let me tell you—I LOVE it! It’s forcing me to combine things I wouldn’t have thought to combine before. And something about having less to wear just makes deciding what to wear a lot more simple. So basically, those are all my thoughts on how this outfit came to be today. Big infinite closet, itty bitty selection (did ya get that reference?). Details: Dress/Sweater: Target; Belt: Modcloth; Shoes: Payless; Jewelry: Gifted.

What is it about lace and ruffles that make me feel like such a girl, and a faux leather jacket that makes me feel like such a bad @ss? And why do I love mixing them up so much? I’m just going to go with, because it’s awesome, as my answer. And we’ll leave it at that. Also…don’t even look at my shoes! No, really! Don’t! Details: Jacket: Target; Dress/Scarf: Free People; Sweater: Modcloth; Gloves: Handmade (Thank you, Janine!); Boots: Steve “I can’t quit you” Madden.

Hello my name is Frankie, I’m a boot-a-holic. I might as well change my description on my bio from I wear clothes to I wear ONE pair of boots. And the funny thing was I had no plan of wearing them today—my intention was cute strappy wedges. But then it was RAINING outside and I didn’t want to go bare-toed in the rain and it was cold. Granted, 15 minutes after I took these and arrived at my designated location, the sun came out and the temperature went up 10 degrees. Well played Mother Nature. Now I have to be all warm with my co-dependent boots when I COULD have been in sandals. Details: Sweater: Target; Dress: Marshall’s; Belt: Thrifted; Boots: Steve Madden.

Whoever said boys don’t like pink clearly never wore this dress out running errands, because I was whistled at and honked at so many times I began to wonder if my dress was see-through. It’s not. So either guys really really like the color pink, or like me, the orange stripes remind them of a Dr. Seuss novel, to which they were probably honking because they too like Cat In The Hat. Don’t we all. Details: Dress/Necklace/Sandals: Target; Jacket: Old Navy.

In just a few more hours I’m going to be away on a writing retreat…and most likely in a hot tub—a fact that is pretty much getting me through this crazy crazy week. Unfortunately the weather is really cool, but I still wanted to wear something kind of bright and fun that had a “I’m about to be on vacation vibe” which actually for most normal people just means…hey, it’s the weekend. But you know, when your life is crazy like mine weekends do become a novelty. Details: Dress/Sweater/Shoes: Target; Scarf: Old Navy; Jeans: DKNY via Marshalls.

Pretty much what I look like when I drive.
